Supplements and Sport

I wrote this post 6 months ago but didn't post it. There are a few reasons why I wrote this blog post.   Firstly, a perceived issue of what supplements are, secondly a medical check up, and thirdly the topic has recently become a hot topic in the media. The past six months, I have been involved in organising seminars, for the sport of track and field.   One of the seminars we wanted to hold entitle ‘Nutrition and Seminar’ After advising the head body, of the sporting organisation, that we intended on having this seminar, they advised us that we were not allowed to have the seminar with anything to do with supplements, whilst there name and facilities were involved. Periodisation Most education and training on periodisation in the Western hemisphere is based on the work of Tudor Bompa.  This blog post isn’t going to look at how periodisation came about, but the way I use periodisation to plan training over the training cycle for track and field sprinters. Recovery Techniques – Part Three

In part one and two , we looked at what was recovery, the types of passive and active recovery techniques available. In part three, we look at recovery that requires assistance and references. Thank you to everybody who provided articles and information on this series. Assisted Recovery The definition of assisted recovery is it requires external assistance.   This assistance can be a person, medicine, or clothing for example.   In part two we discussed certain stretching that required external assistance.   This was done as the external assistance was to aid in the stretch.
